Bonjour, ça va? That's nearly all the French that I know! But one of the benefits of not working is that it gives me time to do other things, new things. At the moment, it feels like becoming proficient in a foreign language is an impossible dream, but I'm going to give it a try. After all, we're buying a small apartment in France, so it seems to be simple good manners to learn French so that I can speak it when I'm there.
I have the French for Dummies book, and I've got an app called Babbel. At the moment it is one of my daily tasks that I try to avoid, because I'm hopeless at languages. However, if I force myself to do it, then surely I'll get a bit better, and can try out a few phrases during our ski trip next month.
Just pray that I don't decide to learn a musical instrument, that would be more than anyone's ears could take!
